On March 21st, NAR Lokantası, in collaboration with The Culinary Arts Center, presented a seminar and a dinner event dedicated to the ethnic Balkan culture in Turkey. Before the seminar, participants were offered traditional savory pastries along with plum liqueur while watching a demonstration on "börek" making at the kitchens of the Culinary Arts Center. The seminar started with a presentation on food culture. Researcher Nedim Atilla, who gave general information on the food culture and cuisines of Balkan ethnicities living in Turkey. Afterwards, Chef Vedat Başaran who is of Bosnian heritage spoke of his memories of his childhood and the food culture of the Bosnians.
After the seminar, the participants ate from a menu that included some of the finest dishes of the Balkan cuisine, while listening to live Balkan music made by Cüneyt Şentürk and his orchestra and watched a traditional folk dance performed by M.A.P. HOYTAG Folk Dancing Club of İzmit.
