YESAM (Culinary Arts Center) hosted a preliminary training session before the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Olive Oil Workshop, scheduled March 14-16, 2012. The workshop aimed to develop a roadmap to raise international awareness about Turkey's olive industry and olive oil culture. Ertugrul Gunay, Minister of Culture and Tourism, marked the beginning of the Workshop held at YESAM.
Mr. Gunay later visited Nar Gourmet and was briefed on Nar Gourmet products by General Manager Samir Bayraktar and Board Member Vedat Basaran. He also tasted all natural Turkish delight and traditional candy (akide) samples. Conference participants later savored traditional dishes from the Ottoman and contemporary Turkish cuisines for lunch.
The workshop included a number of panels - including the state of olive production; importance of olive oil in Turkish cuisine; olive oil and health, and olive oil in tourism- bringing together producers, gourmet chefs, artists, academicians, writers and members of the press from different countries. The workshop will be followed by site visits to Edremit, Ayvalik and Izmir.
